Source confirms OSU recruit Turner shot
Ohio State football recruit Jamel Turner was shot over the weekend in the Youngstown area, a source very close to the OSU program confirmed.

Details are sketchy, but Turner's wounds were not believed to be life-threatening. He did not respond to phone messages left for him today.

This is just the latest in a long line of trouble for Turner, a defensive end. He was kicked off the Ursuline High School basketball team for disciplinary reasons in the spring of 2009, his junior year, and declared academically ineligible for sports.

He was spending his senior year at Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy and appeared to be doing well. In February, he signed his letter of intent to play for OSU.

At the time, Turner told the Dispatch, "We all make bad decisions and mistakes, but it's what you do after that."

He left Fork Union in March, though, for reasons that were never explained. He returned to Youngstown, where OSU coach Jim Tressel said he assumed Turner was trying to graduate this spring
