UAW TO TOSS A SECOND LIFELINE TO VALLEY WORKERS ON APRIL 15TH

Event Designed To Help Youngstown-Warren Area Residents
Survive Troubled Economic Conditions

"Lifeline to Valley Workers" will be held on Wednesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Chevrolet Centre, 229 E. Front St, Youngstown, OH 44503.  The event is again being sponsored by the UAW in partnership with local organized labor and One-Stop programs.  This event is free to attend and open to the public.  This includes members of organized labor as well as those not affiliated with organized labor.

This outreach event is a one-stop forum for workers and residents in need of assistance during severe economic times.  Individuals who are unemployed, under-employed, laid-off, or simply in need of assistance, are strongly encouraged to attend.

Representatives from numerous state and local government agencies, HUD-certified counseling agencies, and multiple community-based outreach organizations will be on hand to meet one-on-one with the public.  These agencies will be able to provide information, counseling, and resources to any individual who is in need of assistance.

Throughout the day, government officials and outreach representatives will speak to the audience about efforts being made on both the federal and state level to help Valley workers.  Many of these speakers will also be presenting brief workshops aimed at topics that Valley workers are likely facing.  These topics will include, but are not limited to:

- Foreclosure prevention
- Household finance workshops
- Career counseling and job placement
- Social benefits assistance
- Personal finance planning and credit counseling
- Legal aid
- Healthcare assistance

Several HUD-certified housing counseling agencies will meet one-on-one with distressed homeowners to help them avoid foreclosure.  These one-on-one meetings are the most important step any Valley resident facing foreclosure can take!  These agencies also specialize in providing advice on buying a home, renting, defaults, credit issues, and reverse mortgages.

Additional information regarding this event can be obtained by calling the UAW Local 1112 representative Linda Burke at (330) 501-3710 or emailing lifelinetovalleyworkers@live.com.

On Wednesday, April 15, a Lifeline will be Tossed to Valley Workers at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown.  All Valley workers and residents are encouraged to attend.
