I don't think it would be advantageous to split Mahoning county off and create another (new) county.
Mahoning County was created by taking part of Northern Columbiana County and part of Southern
Trumbull County back in the day.

A lot of local governments these days are looking at consolidation to cut costs and make their
local governments operate more efficiently with less resources.  Creating a new county would
also create the need for duplicate government agencies, etc - which already exist at the current
county level.  This redundancy would needlessly raise costs.

Besides, I think most of the tax base in Mahoning County is outside the city of Youngstown,
so taking this tax base away by the formation of a new county that would include Boardman,
Austintown, Poland Township, etc would only hurt Youngstown financially.

Has the time come for Mahoning County to be split in two, with Canfield becoming the County Seat of a new county with Boardman, Poland, Canfield and the towns to the south being part the new county, and the remainder being part of Mahoning County with the County seat remaining in Youngstown?
