Title: How Far Did Your Apple Travel?
Post by: jay on August 09, 2009, 09:01:04 AM
I shopped in the produce section of a Sparkle Market this weekend.  Many of the apple varieties on display were grown in New Zealand.  I wonder how much fuel was used to transport these apples half way around the world.

Please support our Mahoning Valley farmers.

Perhaps New Zealand also gets apples from us out of season?

Apples are grown in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties and all over northeast Ohio.  With new storage techniques, local apples are available long past the typical growing season.

Support the local economy by purchasing from local farmers.
