For anyone tuning into the live Youngstown Police Scanner now, Youngstown Police are searching for a 22 year old suspect who shot a federal agent in the leg at 3pm today. At the time of writing this, they have a command post set up at Avondale and Southern and have a perimeter set  up around that area. Here are the latest news stories about the incident....

YOUNGSTOWN — A U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent was shot in leg on the city's South Side this afternoon.

He was taken to an area hospital, but it's not certain which one.

Police are looking for a suspect named William Amos, 22, also known as Demetrius Lee, who lists a Market Street address.
Police said the shooting took place on East Judson Avenue, 50 yards east of Elbertus Avenue. Authorities have the area blockaded as they process the crime scene.

Agenices on the scene included FBI, U.S. Marshals Task Force, ATF, Boardman and Youngstown police departments and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Federal agent shot in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN (Posted 4 p.m.) - Police have blocked off several South Side streets searching for a man they said shot a federal agent in the foot in that area today.

City police officers said an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms was shot in the foot at 150 E. Judson Ave. and taken to an area hospital. No details were immediately being released on the agent's identity or condition.

City police along with federal law enforcement agents as well as officers from several surrounding communities converged on a group of streets around Judson Avenue about 3 p.m. On some of the streets officers armed with automatic weapons were searching cars of passersby at gunpoint before allowing motorists to proceed.

Sketchy information being released said only that officers were searching for a black man in his 20s. No other description was immediately available.

Officers were converged around Hilton and Judson avenues and Southern Boulevard.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Southside Manhunt

Several area police agencies have convened on the city's southside in a massive manhunt searching for a suspect in an afternoon shooting of a federal agent.  The shooting happened around 3 o'clock on East Judson in Youngstown. Police are looking for possible suspect  22 year old William Amos.  A 12 block perimeter has been set up from Midlothian  to Ravenwood and South Avenue to Market Street.
