Morley Arts Center Fundraiser

Saturday, March 6
7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Please join Ballet Western Reserve and the Oakland Center for the Arts as we join together to have the entire Morley Arts Building open to the public for the first time in years (or maybe ever!)!! Why, you ask? Our lovely home is in need of some minor surgery after 10 years of hard livin'! Wellll, technically the building precedes us by quite a few years, and after the demolition of the State Theater next door, our exterior needs some major botox injections! We'll have a checklist of items that need repaired throughout the building, so if you feel inclined, you can make a donation to do anything from paint a wall, recarpet a floor, buy new microphones, or purchase new signs for the building! Otherwise, just the money from your ticket purchase will help us finance some of those repairs!

Saturday, March 6, we'll swing the doors open from both the 220 and 218 W. Boardman entrances. From 7-10 pm, you can wander freely between the Ballet Studios to the Irving Theater, the Star Gallery to the BWR Board Room, with live entertainment carrying you from room to room!

Tickets are only $25 for adults or $15 for students and seniors (get 'em at the door or call 330-744-1934 in advace) and get you three solid hours of:

Hot hors d'eourves from Alberini's

Wine from Rulli Brothers

Sneak Peak of Dinner with Friends which runs Mar. 12-27 at the Oakland and stars John Cox, James McClellan, Laura Phillips, and Cheryl Lilko-Games

Early Preview of new Star Gallery show with Artists of the Rustbelt founders Lisa Zitello, Marcie Roepke-Applegate, and Daniel Horne

Original choreography by Company Dancers of Ballet Western Reserve

Ballroom Dance lessons from Travis Manero of Fred Astaire Studios

Vocal recital from Amanda Beagle and her students with accompanist Anthony Ruggiero

Youngstown Symphony principal cellist Michael Gelfand

Portrait painting by Gary Taneri ($100 a pop - call ahead to reserve a sitting)

Guest lectures* by Bill Lawson of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society; Richard Dickinson of Ballet Western Reserve and Moi! * note that by lectures, I mean Richard and I will be begging you for money  but Bill will be tantalizing you with historical facts about the Morley Building, formerly the Elks Club, formerly a livery!

DINNER FOR A YEAR Raffle (12 gift certifcates to local restaurants)

It will certainly be a night to remember! So grab a few friends and head downtown for an evening of the finest culture two staples of live entertainment in the Valley have to offer! Dress is casual - dancing shoes and flashy jewels encouraged!

We're working hard at the Oakland to get everything ready - the cast is rehearsing, the set is being built, the lights are being hung and focused, and we have lots of cleaning to do! If you'd like to help out, please email here or call me at 330-718-5515!

Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend!
