A portion of the roof of the Park Vista retirement community on Fifth Avenue blew off around 2 p.m. Residents said they heard a tearing sound and a loud crash as part of the roof fell to the sidewalk below.
No one was injured. Only one person is expected to be displaced while the roof is repaired.
"Strong wind, horizontal rain. You can see over in Wick Park a couple trees down. Pretty strong and intense storm," said Brian Kolenich, with the assisted living facility.
