Youngstown getting a new trash collector

The rate on the bill we received today is $14.75.  That is 70% over >:( the $8.70 the city will be paying to the collector.  The residents need a breakdown of where the extra dollars are going to.

That 8.70 per month does not include tonnage fees or the animal carcass removals.

The current home sanitation rate in Youngstown is $13.75 per month.  With the new contract, a rate reduction is in order.

Why?Town

That's a nice, easy way to divert $100,000 a year from "recycling, litter-law enforcement, landfill inspections, emergency spill management and landfill haul road maintenance" to the general fund.

Starting in March Ohio Valley Waste Service will collect the trash in Youngstown.  The company is owned by Vogel in PA.  My neighbor first heard of this from our trash collector Thursday morning and the information was "buried" in this Vindy article on Friday about Mahoning County commissioners:
