A few days ago, Chuck Sammarone announced that he will not seek another term as President of Council in Youngstown. His departure leaves the race wide open for several other Democrats who would like to replace him.
It is not known if another political party will also run a candidate for this position. Four years ago, an independent was one of three candidates in the general election race.

It's good to have an older politician retire and make way for the next generation of city leaders.
I've heard that a woman is also circulating petitions to run for President of Council.
A man from the minority community is also circulating petitions for president of city council.

Ray and Swierz will split the white vote. Ms. McWilson has a chance at winning the contest.
What Ray and Swierz need is another minority to enter the Democratic primary.

DeMaine Kitchen just entered the Democratic President of Council race.
A few candidates just had their prayers answered.
what a joke that demaine kitchen thinks he is qualified to run for any political office on any levels. his next run for any position is south of the border.
John Swierz For President of City Council
DeMaine Kitchen 44% 3,537
Mike Ray 32% 2,580
John R. Swierz 19% 1,546
Young Tensley 4% 373

One of these candidates should have dropped out of the race.
why should they drop out? they both have big egos to be satisfied.
