I would guess some type of large rifle or shotgun.

Does anyone know what type of weapon sounds like a bomb? 

They definitely aren't fireworks.  They sound like what is shown on the national news when a car bomb explodes. It literally vibrates the house!

Several of these sounds have been heard on the South Side since December - 2 tonight around 9 pm.
