The south side farmers' market idea is moving forward.  Producers (urban farmers) are being contacted for a meeting during the month of March.

I remember reading vacancy reports about the high percentage of vacant land and
homes on the lower south side....where would a good location be for such a
farmers market on the south side?

ie:  What part of the South side would give the market enough patronage to
make it worth their while' and viable....

I don't know when it first closed, but in the 1990's two attempts were made to reopen it, but failed, and a fire destroyed the main building so that there is nothing left to really wok with.
As to supporting a South Side Farmer's Market, my answer is no.

Does anyone know when the Pyatt Street market stopped?   Are the
buildings still there?

I would patronize a South Side Farmers' Market as long as I can be assured the produce was locally grown.

South Side Residents (and others),

While I was at the North Side Farmers' Market today, a woman was conducting a survey asking if vendors and market customers would patronize a South Side Farmers' Market if one would be created next year.

So, would you patronize a South Side Farmers' Market?
