crickets is stronger then ever since jrs tried to pull the wool over the public. the general public did not buy into his half baked arguments concerning crickets noise problems.

There were around 50 people at the City Council meeting Wed night to show support for Crickets.

There might have been more but there were quite a few people there in support of the Fire station as well.

Nice to see that council is showing some modicum of intelligence about this.  One would think that
there would have to be a history of citations required in order to vote to pull their liquor license

The strong showing of support certainly helps make their case for "sour grapes".

It is to the 7th Ward what the MVR and Golden Dawn are to the North Side.

Jay, Crickets is one of the most popular spots in Youngstown. The problem is with a a group of Brownlee Woods malcontents that want it closed, and Crickets popularity doesn't matter to them.

jay

Maybe someone living on or near East Midlothian could organize a South Side Dine Out at Crickets to show support for this business.

I would really hate to see Crickets close.  The place is a south side landmark.  Countless fundraisers have been held there. Countless political rallies have been held there.
The food is awesome, prices are reasonable.  There have been very few, if any, fights/shootings/etc at Crickets. It's probably the tamest of all the bars on the south side!

Why not give them time to make the necessary changes needed to cut down on the noise, rather than trying to close them down, which is essentially what they're doing by trying to revoke their liquor license.

And the President of Council said that the city would look like a fool if it sent the complaint down to Columbus without and citations. The resolution would be sent right back to the City.

jay

West side Councilman Paul Drennen said the Crickets issue was not an extreme case that merited an objection from Youngstown City Council.

I'm glad we have a councilman with common sense.

The issue brought 150 people to the meeting ...
According to the 7th Ward Councilman, 16 people complained to him, yet according to YPD reports the complaints made to them came from CC's (Concerned Citizens) who wouldn't give their names to the Police.

jay

QuoteBottom line, if they lose the license they will have to close

This issue should have never gone as far as to threaten the existence of this business.

Outrageous!
