First Night Youngstown 2012

Judging from the site, they have things pritty much under control.

As for the buttons, I have absolutely no problems with buying buttons for the event.

There's also the question of parking ... more money out of the pockets of party goers.

There are many other places where folks can go New Years Eve that have free parking so we're down to what the downtown night clubs have planned.

This also beggers the question how much does First Night Youngstown need?

That is a good point Towntalk.  The downtown establishments stand to have a lot of extra business on New Year's Eve because of the First Night crowd.

But many eateries went out of business in the past year or two.  Things are still not booming with the downtown economy.

It's been over 20 years since the last time we went out for New Years Eve. And about 5 since we've had any alcohol at the house.......

So much safer to stay home that evening. In so many ways........

Where are all the bars, saloons and restaurants ... this should be their big day. Certainly they are all going to jack up their prices. Why should the average bloke have to shell out a "donation" and then have to pay through the nose for a nosh at some diner? Seems to me that they should be the ones to be shelling out the dough if they expect to bring us downtown. Personally, I plan to have my own party right here at home ... booze free ... noshing on a large cheese platter, egg nog, potato chips and deli meats and at the stroke of midnight curl myself up in my trundle bed and rock myself off to the land of Nod.

I've heard that donations for our city's New Year's Eve celebartion have fallen off.

Give if you are able.
